General Information

The Clark County Health Department was formed by an approved motion of the Clark County Board on June 3, 1999, and began operations on July 1, 1999.  The primary intent of the health department was to continue WIC, Family Case Management, and immunization services that had been provided under the former Cumberland/Clark Bi-County Health Department (abolished on June 30, 1999).  The department remained in the former satellite office at 1001 N. York Street, Martinsville, IL until moving into the current building in 2001.  Today, we provide many more services to aid in the health, safety, and well-being of the citizens of Clark County, Illinois.

The Clark County Health Department's purpose is to promote and protect the health of ALL Clark County, Illinois residents.  The department's slogan is "Promoting and Protecting Your Health".  To aid in accomplishing this for all Clark County residents, we have established several different programs and staffed them with competent, professional people.

In addition to the Public Health services (i.e. Smoking Cessation, Foot Clinic, Screenings & Testing) we provide, our Nursing Division also provides many services and programs like children and adult immunizations, developmental screenings for children, lead screenings, etc.  Some services are available on a walk-in basis, but it is best to contact us to schedule an appointment.

Fees for services vary.  Many fees are low and are most often based on your family income.  No services will be denied for inability to pay and many of our services are offered at no charge to you.

Our Environmental Health Dvision provides, among many other things, the issuance of temporary and permanent food permits, as well as, inspecting water wells, septic systems, and food service establishments.  The Clark County Health Department is committed to an environmentally safe community.

As always, we are here for our residents--if you have any questions or suggestions please give us a call.
